Renovating can also mark a significant investment – whether it be a kitchen remodel or complete home remodel. Be sure to consider your budget as well as your family’s needs and lifestyle. If you’re starting a renovation or considering embarking on a project, here are some of the design trends we have been seeing in 2023 for you to consider for your living and working spaces.

1.Upgraded kitchens

It has been said that kitchens are the heart of the home – the place where families and their guests gather and converse. It’s no surprise Kelowna kitchen renovations are one of the most common renovation projects being undertaken in 2023. Homeowners are moving to lighter palettes of white, off-white and light natural woods with lighter counters for a bright and open feel.

2.Zellige-style tiles

While traditional Zellige tiles originate from Morrocco and are handmade, quality alternatives can be sourced to achieve the laid-back, Mediterranean look. From full showers to kitchen backsplashes, Zellige-style tiles come in a range of bold colours such as moody, deep green, black as well as softer palettes of white and off-white. Square and brick format tiles are both available and are usually installed in a stacked design either horizontally or vertically, depending on preference.

3.Warm tones

Say “good-bye” to ‘grey on grey’; warmer tones are running in the forefront. Dark brown is a popular colour, as well as warm taupe colours. Warm tones can be brought in through a dark and rich feature wall, or through deep tones of wood such as coffee tables or side tables.

4.Outdoor living spaces

Multi-functional outdoor living spaces have been an increasing priority for homeowners. This may entail a custom built-in hot tub and deck, a dedicated firepit and lounge space, or building a complete outdoor structure for entertaining.

5.Curves

From furniture to doorways, curves are on trend. Incorporating curves softens up rooms by providing movement and fluidity. Bring curves to your home reno with vessel bathtubs, doorway arches, wallpapers and mirrors.

6.Soundproofing

Creating room privacy is a common request homeowners will make during a home renovation. While you have your walls open in a home renovation, it is an ideal time to consider adding additional soundproofing to your renovation wish list.

7.Spa-like Bathrooms

Bathrooms have transformed from practical spaces to luxurious retreats. In 2023, homeowners are aiming for spa-like bathrooms, creating an oasis of relaxation and rejuvenation. Popular elements include large freestanding soaking tubs, rain showerheads, heated floors, and elegant finishes such as marble or high-quality tiles. Intelligent storage solutions and natural lighting help create an organized and serene atmosphere.

8.Multifunctional Spaces

With a growing need for flexible living and working arrangements, the demand for multifunctional spaces has skyrocketed. Open-concept layouts are evolving to serve multiple purposes, with living areas doubling as home offices, fitness spaces, or relaxation corners. Creative solutions like foldable furniture, sliding doors, and room dividers allow homeowners to easily transform spaces as needed, ensuring optimal utilization of square footage.

9.Smart Home Integration

Technology continues to influence how we live, and it has extended its reach to home renovations. Integrating smart home automation systems has become a prominent trend in 2023. This includes voice-activated assistants, remote-controlled lighting, smart thermostats, and security systems. Renovations often involve the installation and pre-wiring of devices, creating seamless connections between the home’s various systems for improved comfort, convenience, and energy efficiency.

The renovation trends of 2023 reflect a growing desire for stylish and functional spaces. From open-air living rooms and multifunctional spaces to smart home integration and soundproofing, these trends open endless possibilities for transforming homes and commercial spaces. By staying updated with these trends and incorporating them into your renovation plans, you can create a contemporary and timeless space that perfectly suits your needs, preferences, and the demands of the ever-evolving design landscape.
